Catapult Sports to Acquire Soccer Analytics Leader IMPECT with $130M Raise
Catapult Sports Ltd (ASX: CAT), the global leader in sports technology for professional teams, has announced the acquisition of IMPECT GmbH, a German-based pioneer in soccer analytics and tactical intelligence.
Under the deal, Catapult will acquire 100% of IMPECT’s shares, expanding its capabilities in the rapidly growing market for data-driven performance and scouting solutions. IMPECT is renowned for its proprietary Packing™ metric, which measures how effectively players move the ball past opponents — offering teams a unique lens into player performance and team dynamics.
To fund the acquisition, Catapult is launching a fully underwritten institutional placement to raise A$130 million (US$84M) and a non-underwritten Share Purchase Plan (SPP) targeting an additional A$20 million (US$13M). Funds raised will be used to complete the acquisition, strengthen Catapult’s balance sheet, and provide flexibility for future strategic growth opportunities.
Founded in 2014 by former professional footballers Stefan Reinartz and Jens Hegeler, along with Lukas Keppler and Matthias Sienz, IMPECT has built a cloud-based, SaaS intelligence platform that serves as a comprehensive solution for player scouting, opponent analysis, and internal benchmarking. The company’s proprietary database spans 150 global soccer leagues, covering over 40,000 matches annually across 25 countries.
Catapult said the acquisition of IMPECT represents a major step in its long-term strategy to deliver an integrated, end-to-end sports technology ecosystem — combining athlete tracking, video analysis, and advanced performance insights under one platform.
By bringing IMPECT’s world-leading soccer data into its portfolio, Catapult aims to help clubs and federations make smarter, faster, and more informed decisions, cementing its position as a global leader in elite sports analytics.
